As reported by Awoko, NASSIT (National Social Security Insurance Trust) one of Sierra Leone’s largest financial institution won three international awards granted by the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
NASSIT was established in 2001 by the Late President Kabbah to provide retirement and other benefits to meet the contingency needs for workers and their dependant. NASSIT offers old age, survivorship and invalidity benefits. One of the youngest organizations to participate in this year’s ISSA conference which “attracted over 360 participants from 75 member’s organization in 45 countries”- Awoko , NASSIT believes they won the award because of “their performance over the years in terms of coverage, fund development and application of international standards of practice”. As of one of the largest financial institutions in Sierra Leone, it is encouraging to hear news that this organization received such an award.
ISSA was founded in 1927 under the International Labor Organization and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
